Child's Play This series feature rescued pages from very old, damaged children's annuals that would otherwise be tossed away. The annuals used here date from the 1940's. Broken and no longer collectable, I've salvaged the texts and images, combining with other elements to create new narratives, imagined worlds, giving these gems a new life. The hardcover annuals, usually published around Christmas time, contained wonderful illustrations, games, puzzles, crafts, poems reflecting popular culture of the time. Also included in the annuals were short stories taken from the weekly periodicals, the most famous regular contributor being Enid Blyton. Most often the delightful illustrations were contributed by more than one artist and on occasion would be credited. Other material is sources from vintage reference books on gardening, nature and science. 30cm x 40cm including white mount. Ready to frame.
